New York Knicks History

The New York Knicks began in the 1946-47 season, along with 10 other NBA teams and are one of only two teams that are still in their original city. In the early years of the team, the New York Knicks made it to the NBA Finals in three straight seasons from 1951-53 and made many playoff appearances to gain the respect of NBA players and fans.
The New York Knicks had some unsuccessful seasons in the ‘60s until Willis Reed was drafted. Reed played his entire NBA career with the New York Knicks, earning Rookie of the Year and MVP awards, as well as two NBA titles during his career before entering the Basketball Hall of Fame. Walt Frazier also left his mark on the New York Knicks. Frazier held may New York Knicks records in his career. Most of his records, except for his assist record, were broken by Patrick Ewing. Ewing came to the New York Knicks by way of the No. 1 overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft. Ewing won Rookie of the Year and was a vital part of the New York Knicks success during his stay in New York.
